Waterproofing water feature.

I have done a search on this but I can't get much sence out of any of it.I just want to know what to put on it and how.I don't really care too much for the technical side of it.Waterproofing bamboo for this type of application must be something that is done all the time and not something nobody wants to give advice on.Any help would be great.

You can varnish or shellac your water feature. The main problem that you will have with using varnish or shellac is that over time the finish will peel off as the shiny surface of the bamboo prevents paint or varnish from sticking to the bamboo surface for long periods of time.

I have seen a piece of bamboo that was first painted with Kilz primer and that paint on the bamboo lasted for many years and did not peel off.

Do I have to treat the inside of the bamboo as well.

You don't have to finish the inside - but one thing you could do is to use a rubber hose inside the bamboo that the water flows through - that way the bamboo might last longer...
