First new shoots of the year!!!!!!

I was beginning to think they were never going to start shooting, but in the past 3 days they have gone wild!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!

I've been cooking a few shoots that come up where I can't let them grow...

From your bamboo collection - can you tell which ones are shooting first ?

P. Bissetti and possibly P. Aurea, (I have a msytery boo that I saved from certain death about 4-5 years ago and never really figured out what species it is) here is a link to pics I took a while back:

What's also wierd, is the black I harvested from another yard early last year sent up shoots twice! I have a boo staging area and apparently I picked a good spot and a good growing medium

Ugh, I wish I had that many!

Which of the new shoots (mine) looked like Aurea to you? That way maybe I can finally classify my mystery boo

The aurea is the one that is shooting the most
nigra second

Thank you. It doesn't have those irregular nodes at the bottom though :/ The canes that face the sun get kind of a deep orange coloration to them though. I'll take more pictures so you can see

Absolutely! It will be dark when I get home and probably storming too, so it may take a few days

what I'd like to see most is the top part of the shoot like this:


and any part of the shoot that still have the color of the culm sheath still on it.

Aurea is always kinda purple....
