The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the American Bamboo Society would like to announce their “Bamboo Festival” will be held at the University of Washington’s Arboretums Donald Graham Visitor Center, 2300 Arboretum Drive East, Seattle, WA 98112. The date of the event is this June 2, 2007 which is a Saturday from 9:30AM until 3:30PM.

There will be speakers talking on topics of choosing, selecting, siting, planting, growing, caring for bamboo plants. Plenty of slide photographs on these subjects and more.

Bamboo is a plant that can be grown both inside and outside here in the Pacific Northwest. In the dried cane form for it is used for woodworking, accents in building in the home or garden. Others uses vary from its edible shoots to making baskets and floors to furniture. Even clothing, animal feed and possibly bio-fuel. Bamboo is the worlds most useful plant.

A plant sale of bamboos will be going on all during this event along with a Rare Bamboo Auction at 11 AM. Come to select your new bamboos and to learn more about this fascinating plant.

This is a fund raising event for our all volunteer nonprofit educational group and a educational program for the public.

The Graham Visitors Center is located on the north end of Arboretum Drive East in the Washington Park Arboretum, which is located south of the University of Washington campus, on the south side of the Montlake bridge, adjacent to the Broadmoor neighborhood in nearby Madison Park.
