Grove Grooming / Bamboo Garden Structures Workshop

Zilker Botanical Garden, Saturday January 15, 2005 10am - 5pm

Cost: FREE

Join us at 10am, 15th January 2005 in the Tanuguchi Oriental Garden at Zilker Botanical Gardens, Austin Texas, as we begin a series of workshops on grove management, harvesting and preparation of materials for working with bamboo.
This is a grove of Golden bamboo, (Phyllostachys aurea) planted many years ago by Tanuguchi, when the gardens were first built.
Materials harvested will be used for workshop activities, including future projects to build functional and decorative bamboo features for Zilker Botanical Gardens.

A portion of the harvested bamboo will be available for participants who have helped.

Introduction to working with bamboo
Explore the possibilities! Learn about basic tools and techniques needed to make landscape art, garden fences, gates, rakes, trellises, arbors, fountains, windchimes and more!

Get hands-on experience learning how to work with bamboo!
