Bamboo artist / mathematician Akio Hizume installed two new Star Cages during the 10th Annual Texas Bamboo Festival (Aug 2002, Austin TX USA)..(with the assistance of Junichi Yananose (Juno), and the provision of Phyllostachys aurea from M&C)

Zilker Botanical Gardens, comprises 22 acres and is part of a 351 acre garden/parkway in Austin Texas.
ZBG serves as host to 40 different plant/horticultural clubs and associations from Austin, TX and the South/Central US Region, (including the Texas Bamboo Society).

Akio Hizume built the first Star Cage at Zilker on his first visit in 1999.
The Star Cages now form a trilogy of Akios' work.
They are placed in three locations in the garden.
One introduces visitors prior to entering into the Taniguchi Gardens.
At this is the time of year, (Dec) ZBG celebrates by decorating various features of the gardens in festive splendour.
