Hi All,
Nice that I have found this forum. I have been playing bamboo flute for little over 5 years and I am getting pretty good at it. And I love to play it when ever I get a chance and so I am sort of addicted to the sound, the kind of sounds I can make with Bamboo flute is mind boggling. Having said that, recently I ventured into the art of making some bamboo flutes myself. I have made a few, wasted a few bamboos in the beginning, got it perfected and I have made a few real good ones. Needless to say the ones I made are my most favorites!!

With that I am not even sure what sort of bamboos I used, I cut a few dried ones from one of my neighbors yard and made a few. They are a bit of a thick walled bamboos. My question to you folks, what type of bamboos are good for making bansuri flutes? Additionally do you know where I can harvest some of these types of bamboos here in Texas? I am also interested in growing several varities as I have a bit of a yard here in my house in Houston. Any information will be greatly appreciated? Thanks for your time.
