Bamboo
An IPM scout found a mealybug infesting Phyllostachys sp of bamboo in mid August. We just received an ID from Douglass Miller of the Systemic Lab at USDA. The mealybugs is Ferrisicoccus angustus (Narrow scale). It originated in China or Russia and little is known about its biology. It has been found in D.C., and parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
