This another place where I began to plant bamboos (Yellow with green strips). The mothers have near 4 inches diameter ( the wall on the basis are thickish near 1/2 to 1"). The new culms (higher) are nearly 2 months old. They are now 4/5 meter height. I shot this pic in feb/04, now they had grown a litlle more because now its hotter here. You can see to the left, at the ground, some pieces that had failed. This it is the original diameter from the original pieces that I had planted. Can you can identify this specie? It is Bambusa vulgaris?

In this similar view, you can see my dog Ziggy making a inspection on the grounds.
This set is 3 years old. The total plants are originally 20 but near 5 have failed ( you can see one or two on the corner). Now I return to plant others in place of them.
The first sprout is thin ( first year), at the second year they come with 1 inch diameter. and this year there are some that are more than 3 inches diameter.
I only fertilizer with NPK. Its necessary to put something more?
