versasaw (http://www.versasaw.com)
this was listed as one of " workbench magazines top ten innovative tools-2004"

this tool looks promising for some applications, could chuck it to a cordless drill for harvesting alot of poles. it'd be much lighter, smaller and managable i think than the cordless recip.saws on the market,(and at $40 surely cheaper)

found this link where it's $38+free shipping. didnt see any real reviews unfortunately.

Interesting, thanks for posting it. my feelings are reciprocal!
It looks like it has a lot of possibilities for grove cleaning chores - if it's built to tackle a strenuous task. It's one of these gizmos that I would like to try before I buy,.... but being.." workbench magazines top ten innovative tools-2004", and the reasonable price....

Jig-saws (sabre saws) are pretty good too, and start at around $20.
I've gotten real attached to using them, though I recently wore one out (the cogwheel-mechanism wore down).

i'm with you there too mark,i'd like to know how durable it is.
i bought a corded recriprocating saw at harbor freight for $20 that works great in my shop, the benefit i see in this thing is mainly being cordless it can go anywhere. the "Con": i imagine its not as powerful, they offer a 1year warranty, id say its worth trying out,

wonder how well a Roto-Zip tool would work for cutting designs in bamboo.
rotozip is a rotary-tool and is somewhere between a dremel and a small trim router, they use sideward cutting/slicing drill bits. more at rotozip.com (http://www.rotozip.com)
