Gourds and bamboo are great companions!
Gourds love to clambor over a bamboo garden structure,
and twirl and twine their vines through the woven stakes.
They hang their bulbous fruiting bodies over the extended bamboo branch stubs, which serve so well to support the bountiful harvest.
One year Joel and Jason gave added character to our growing gourds by etching them with a nail while they were still young and half grown.
By the time the gourds were fully ripened, the etchings had changed. The protective scar tissue had risen above the gourd surface and was more prominent.

Bamboo and gourds combine very well in the garden and in the field of arts and crafts!
