Wearable bamboo arts and crafts is a great way to promote the beauty and versatility of bamboo!
There is a special 'feel' to wearing bamboo, so that the more it is worn, it becomes burnished with age, imparting a deep, rich lustre.
Of course, even the finest jewelry can get chipped, or lose their precious gems, so one must also expect bamboo to wear with age.
There is much to learn about making bamboo jewelry :
- The designs sought out by people of all ages and `fashionable inclinations'.
- The species that work well for a specific use.
- The challange of working with small pieces.
- The additional parts and pieces that make up the product.
- The techniques that are used to SECURELY attach these pieces.
- and much more !!!

Some of these are still to be engraved on their surface.

The `bar pins' were attached with a silicone glue. To prevent the bar pin from becomming detached, the bamboo should first be scored with a knife blade.

The edges of this brooch were coated with a silver (exylene free) enamel paint, that comes as a felt-tip marker...very easy to use, with no cleanup of brushes needed.
