Here's a photo of sample pieces we sent to someone to make toys for they're birds.

- Mostly Phyllostachys aurea , some Phyllostachys pubescens
Up to approx 3" (8cm)dia, -to 3 feet (90cm) lengths
The experimental bamboo bird toy kit includes:
- Cut off Node Rings - various sizes
- Internode Rings - various lengths and sizes
- Internodes with one node (for bells/chimes)
- Half split lengths
- Split lengths ( approx 1/2" and 1" wide)
- 3ft lengths of round culms (1/2 to 1")
- to 3ft lengths of trimmed branches
- odd shaped pieces
Here's a few ideas of what could be made:
- Feeders
- Hanging toys
- Chew Toys
- Stands
- Swings
- Perches
- Ladders
- See-saws
- Things that go round and round
and I'm sure there's a lot more things!!
Can anyone recommend a good book on making bird toys etc. that has ideas and specific dimensions etc that I could refer to?

...I have parrots and use Bamboo all the time! My birds especially love to climb ON Bamboo, lol. I even have an old, well chewed, (dead) japonica in a 7 gallon pot that they still climb up on. Bamboo is GREAT for birds!
