DING! DONG! (Buckle up!!! Fasten your seat belt!!!)
This bamboo trellis will play a song!

In the construction of this Bamboo Trellis for Deck (http://www.bamboocraft.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=460),
I drilled holes for the cross pieces and used copper wire to attach the pieces, finishing each length of wire in a vine-like curled tendril.

I know now to make them longer next time because these `tendrils are VERY VERY handy for securing the finishing decorative pieces to a design.
In fact, in that design, the finishing touches relied solely on where they could be clasped by a tendril.

After the basic structural framework was put up I tapped a rhythum on the bamboo with a bamboo stick and was astounded by the resonance! ...And each bar played a different note!
Two things amplified and conducted the sound.
- the bamboo frame work was screwed onto a wooden deck.
- those copper wire curly tendrils!
( and the way they were attached )

So long,

From Pat: The "musical trellis" picture was the 2nd
picture you posted with "weird" colors, lol. Somehow I don't think Bamboo comes in pink & blue. HAHA
-----------
From Joyce: Now my wall paper is your new trellis picture.
My husband is convinced that you've doctored it somehow.
It shows up in very psychedelic colors of blues, turquoise and shocking pinks...

Hi Pat and Joyce,
The remarkable capabilities of the silicon chips in my camera and computer, was able to strip off the outer layers of color from the bamboo picture.
What is visible are the vibrant colors of sound that this trellis made!
These resonating sounds caused vibrations to ascend through the bamboo trellis, and give it the appearance that it is levitating.
If the trellis wasn't securely fastened to the deck, I'm certain it would have been!!!

Layers of Color
I "usually" go to great efforts to try to take pictures of bamboo that actually look how they look at that time and place in their life.
The color of the bamboo is a very important aid to identifying bamboo species.

From the time a bamboo shoot arises
Till it returns to earth as humus,
It is changing color.
