Hello!

I've had my "lucky bamboo" for about 4-5 years now. She started out real small and has grown to be big enough to where I could no longer keep it on my desk.

Just recently her leaves started to turn yellow and when I changed the pot, there was a strong moldy smell. So I washed her, trimmed the rotten roots and changed the water. I changed the water again the next week just to be sure and before long she came back healthy again. She even started growing another separate branch!

Today, however, I looked at the bottom of the glass pot and saw the the water and stones are again turning black. Can anyone help me determine what the problem is?? She's in a bigger pot with new stones. I'd hate to lose her after all this time!

I attached some pictures...

Did you mix the old stones with the new stones?
Maybe you need to wash all the stones.
(just trying to make some useful suggestions)

I did mix the old with the new. But I had washed all the stones when I changed the pot, old and new. What's a good way to wash the stones without using something that will harm her? I just used really hot water and rinsed them all...

I would have rinsed the rocks the same way you did.
Maybe there are some rotten mushy parts still left on the root ends of your plant.
