At a spring bamboo festival that Carole and I attended in South Texas this weekend, was an interesting gizmo that Dr James Prewitt had made.
He called it a whoopee-doo.

The objective is to blow through the pipe, which forces the stryofoam ball (which has a wire hook attached to it) to rise, and with skill, to latch onto the wire loop above the pipe.
This toy provided great amusement to young and old!
It was actually made from Arundo donax, (a close relative of bamboo) but could easily be made from bamboo.

Dr James Prewitt is a retired Mathematics teacher, and had a very interesting collection of tricks and gadgets that also revealed many theories and principles of physics and Maths.
