Id like to know roughly at what length do 3-35mm bamboo poles start to bend under their own weight.

And / Or

Rougly what is the thinnest diameter pole that is rigid with no applied stresses at a length of 2m.

Sorry i know ive worded this like a exam paper. Im planning to use babmoo to construct a geodome. Thinking of using 2 - 3 m struts, just need some opinions on what would be suitable. Thanks
Tim

a lot depends on which species you end up using

do you have the bamboo available?

Ok, Im based in UK, I have some samples from ukbamboosupplies.co.uk which have convinced me this is a very interesting material, i don't know what variety they supply though. Does anyone here use bamboo structurally in the UK? Id be very interested to hear of your experiences with materials / suppliers.
