We have bamboo growing in our front yard. I live in the DFW Metroplex in TX. I don't know the specific kind of bamboo. My husband says its the kind used for lumber, but I think they are pretty thin - the circumference of the middle finger or so.
We had to cut a bunch down because of the way it was growing. I would hate for the bamboo to go to waste, so I was trying to think of craft ideas. Two that came in my head were a fireplace gate/cover whatever they call it. And heat pads. (The kind that you use to put hot food on the table.)
My question would be, what kind of preparation would I need to do for these applications? Can I just strip them, cut them to length and secure them together, or do I need to hollow them out, paint, etc. I would really like to keep its natural color. Thanks in advance.
