I have been importing bamboo for many years and have found that my latest batch is dark green in color rather than the normal yellow color.
Why is this?

Perhaps your supplier was out of stock of good dried poles so he sent you green ones instead.
Did you change your supplier?
Hope don't mind my asking - but what are you using the bamboo for?

Currently i use these for screening rolls. Will the green poles change colour as they weather? How long does it take to dry out poles which are 1cm thickness?
What a great forum!
Many thanks

It takes about 5 months for the green poles to dry. The color will fade gradually. I usually lean them against a tree outside where they get some sun and shade.
Sometimes I take a smaller piece inside the house to dry and it seems to take longer to dry - although I have not paid close attention to the drying time inside the house.
Are "screening rolls" used as for printing t-shirts?
I am glad that you are enjoying the bamboo forums and as we mis-spell on purpose the word 'welcome' and replace part of the word with a bamboo 'culm' I would like to 'welculm' you to the forums. Glad to have you aboard!
(I have to remember when I am in the "non-bamboo world" to check my spelling....)

Thanks for that i will now give this a try!
Screening rolls as in garden fence screens. I sell a range of bamboo and split bamboo which is normally yellowish in colour. Personally i quite like the fresh looking green look ;0)
