I just bought a Vivax and one of the culms got pushed under the mulch. when I brushed back the mulch one of the nodes started roots. Here is the question:
Can I separate the culm and replant it with sucess? Is the plant too young?
Thank you for your comments.

It won't grow just from the rooted node. It needs a rhizome in the division.

Please check out this link. It claim you only need two nodes and you can create a new plant.

People may say that, but culm cutting propagation is only possible with clumpers. Esp tropical clumpers. Not sure if it works with cold hardy clumpers.
Vivax is a runner (phyllostachys Vivax)

If I was you I would wait a little longer before even thinking about separating them.

Don't try this on your vivax. These instructions are for clumpers and it will not work on your Phyllostachys vivax.
Just relax and let your vivax get a hold of itself in it's new home.

Understood. I also bought a Nuda, I am guessing the same advice for it?
