We have our golden bamboo grove headed towards our leach field. Will it do like willow trees and destoy the leachfield/pipes? we live in zone 7. put in a barrier but only about 16" deep (lots of rocks.) we could only but barrier in a vertical position and I have seen rhizomes that encounter barrier go downward...scarry around the leachfield.

I don't think the rhizomes should harm the pipes. It would be better to keepthem away from the pipes, but i doubt they could do much to them.

A leachfield is a septic tank drainage field. the piping is mostly preforated 6" landscaping pipe, not hard piping, so I'm afraid the rooys will start going into the preforations in the pipe. Also, there is gravel surrounding each pipe .

weldergirl,

I personally would keep it away from my leach field.
