Hey Group,
I'm a long time bamboo enthusiast. Back in my college days I built a bamboo 2 seat coach, a 2 person raft and other devices.
2 weeks ago I built a bamboo frame to hold up a traditional Indian decorative tent for a birthday party.
I am now cleaning out my basement and want to build bamboo shelves for my 5000 records.
Living in the Washington DC area, I have ready access to bamboo so raw materials will be available.
Records are incredibly dense so the shelves will have to be very strong. I'm thinking about using some wood on the outside to create supports. I'll use a hole saw to cut thru the wood, creating passageways for the horizontal bamboo to pass thru. I was thinking about supporting the bamboo every 18 inches.
I'm looking for any input/suggestions. I've been poking thru the site and am really excited to have found such a community.
