I bought 30 moso seeds on ebay. I won't probably receive them until a week from now. Its July 24th should I start the seeds as soon as possible or wait until another time. Plant bamboo outside in spring or fall, before first winter or after first winter. I just need to know how long to wait before putting the bamboo outside and when the best time to transplant to prepare for winter.

Bamboo seedlings are very delicate.
There are many threads posted here at the Bamboo Forums about growing bamboo from seed.

Best to start them indoors.

You misunderstood me. Yes I know there is a lot of infomation out there, but no one comes out saids from when to start my seed inside and say how long should I wait before putting my plant outside or whether or not to skip the first winter.

This info will really help me out

I always plant my seeds as soon as I get them. I plant them indoors most of the time although I have planted some Moso, and D. Strictus outdoors.

This is my normal routine:

1. Plant them indoors as soon as I get them

2. Move them outdoors once they have their 4th leaf. (Majority of the seeds that will die, die before they put up their fourth).

3. Mist daily, make sure they don't get attacked by bugs.

With it soon being fall should I keep the seedlings inside over winter? Or do you think they will all die trying to survive their first winter?

I am almost positive they would die over the winter if left outside. They need a lot of time when they are young to form a very big stable root system. I am bringing mine in for the winter but right now I am doing everything I possibly can to strengthen them now. I have been letting the have some more full sun then usual, which has hardened them.

I may test a few outdoors during the winter. It all depends on how old they are.

But keeping them warm all year wouldn't that mess up there dormant period or doesn't that matter.

No, it shouldn't. Seedlings usually don't have a distinguished dormant period. They go at their own pace.

Would it be a good idea to give the seedlings some horse manure? If so how old should the seedling be before I give it horse manure?

I don't think organic material would be a problem w/ seedlings. You just want to watch out for chemical products such as miracle gro, and such, so you don't burn out the roots.

This is very helpful for me as well because i got a HUGE lot of Moso seeds and its almost fall though here in Tulsa it will be unbearably hot till almost Mid Oct if not later, but i found these very nice "protable" green houses [-Not advertising for anyone-Portable Green House grow plants w / racks Greenhouse Item number: 110274806922] And I will keep my seedlings in this all winter because i do not have a large enough house to hold them in. If my assumption is wrong any one from the area please let me know so i do not destroy my plants before they get a chance to be.
