Idea for terminating pests

I had a crazy idea for destroying the pests. The pests live off of the cane. correct? And all the energy is stored in the roots. correct? So why couldn't you cut off all the canes? Killing all the pest because they have no more food. And the bamboo will shoot up next year healthy as an ox.

Not sure if that will work because from what I have heard of people that have done that is that the bug will come back.]

It all depends on what you are dealing with Aphids and caterpillars being the easiest, mites and mealy bugs, not so easy.

you would probably stop the photosynthesis if you cut down all the canes, and the next years canes would come up smaller. Just use some bug spray.

I really do not like using bug spray. Is there a way to get rid of the pests besides bug spray.

Do you have a specific pest that you are trying to control?

No I just want to know ahead of time, so if I do happen to get a pest I can treat it early.

Soapy water works wonders with bugs but rain will wash it off.
