Helloo, Bamboo-o-philes:

I write as a newbee to respectfully tap your collective knowledge.

I need to build a small platform, 33 x 20 inches. The platform needs to be fairly rigid and pretty light. Thin-wall bamboo seems to be a good choice of material.

The platform is to serve as the floor for a bicycle cargo trailer to carry a 100-pound payload.

I bought some bamboo poles at my local garden center. I thought I would run a pair of lightly tensioned 1/16 inch steel cable perpendicular to the culms, using swaged-on balls to maintain the tension. It seems a light and strong solution.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on the web about building with bamboo, which suprises me since it's so widely used.

Any thoughts on this project would be much appreciated.

There is no ONE way to do anything.
