Is anybody familiar with the BAMBOO PRESERVATION COMPENDIUM, published in 2004. This sounds like a great book, I'm trying to get hold of a copy. There's lots of references to it on the web, however I can't seem to find anywhere selling it.

Hi Satish,
Many thanks for posting here. A while ago I became a member of INBAR, one of the main reasons was to get this book. I've emailed several times, however it was to an office in China. I am still awaiting a reply and will try again soon.
I am living in Thailand and would like to build with D. Asper. Unfortunately Thailand is not an INBAR member.
Thanks again
Scott

It seems almost impossible to obtain a copy of this book, which is a real shame as bamboo preservation is vital for it's successful use.
I've joined INBAR with the promise of being able to purchase a copy, however they are not answering emails.
No wonder bamboo isn't being taken seriously as a building material, the little research that has been conducted is not accessible.

Hi Scott,
I checked with Sue Turtle and she can send the Bamboo Preservation Compendium to you. The cost (including shipping) would be $36. A check made out to the American Bamboo Society in U.S. funds works or you could fax her a credit card number and all the details for shipping --Please note: she will be out of the country (in Ecuador on the BOTA trip) from Sept. 1 through 23 so if you want me to send it soon -- you will have to get the info pretty quickly.
Please correspond with her directly by email (ABSSTreasurer@aol.com)

Hi Scott,
I'm based in Chiangmai and am setting up a company making and exporting contemporary furniture etc. We will be using bamboo a lot, but have the same problem as you regarding info for preservation, and especially splitting when exposed to climatic changes (such as when shipped from here to northern Europe and kept in a centrally-heated home during winter - splitting is a big problem!). If you have found out how to get this publication, I would be grateful if you would contact me (coxdaniel@yahoo.com), we too are trying to gather as much info as possible. Many thanks for any help :)
