Over the past year, we've collected various clumping bamboos that are in the ground, and most are branching well and some have new shoots. However, our Chungii, so far, has no new shoots. My question is what is the typical month of the year that the "Blue" should start shooting? Our Oldhamii and several Malingenis, as well as our B. Textillas Mutabilis and B. Textillas Grascillis all have new shoots. I realize it's just late April and have read that the "shooting season" for clumpers in central Florida is more in the summer than the Spring, but have some concerns about our beautifuly "Blue." Also, our Black (Lako) shows no signs of shoots; however, it is still recovering from a short winter freeze that got down to 24 degrees for about 5 hours.
