Well folks, we would like to get some help identifying what this is so we can sell it this spring.
We are zone 7 so it gets pretty cold. Some snow/ice each winter but this stuff stays green!
The bamboo runs underground roots and the shoots come off the runners (even thru asphalt)....

Would we be able to cut the runner and bag it in a moist plastic bag to sell to people who want to plant/grow their own running forest of bamboo? Someone else told me they did this but they don't live in our area so I don't know if we have the same bamboo.

How do we add pics to help with identifying???

Please help - spring and shoots are on the way here in NC!
Blessings!

Thank you for helping me get this up here!
I tried, but they were to large of files.
So I put them all in a PHOTOBUCKET (http://s293.photobucket.com/albums/mm67/millersgrainhouse/Bamboo/)

Sure hope that works!

I didn't get an email notice of a reply before - so I'll have to fix that!

Hope ya'll can help!

HI Joe and Donna,
That is one beautiful looking grove.http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm67/millersgrainhouse/Bamboo/HighBamboWall.jpg
This picture:

re propagating starts of this bamboo - you are going to have to dig up a clump with a root ball. Cutting the runner and bagging it in a moist plastic bag will only lead the plant to the compost bin.

Hi Joe, Donna

In the photo of the stems, the outer stems with the bloom make the species look like Phyllostachys nigra henonis but only if the green inner stem is not typical and the shot is taken on the shaded side of the grove only. The closeup of the stem and the leaves however looks like P. bambusoides subvarigata. Could be a long discussion on this one.

cheers
