With many small groves of bamboo in my area I have observed that the tallest and straightest plants are those that I find growing in the woods. The small groves that start out in full sunlight are really thick and doesn't seem to get as tall as the ones that has ran off into the woods. They grow straighter also. Does this mean that it is better to grow bamboo in the shade rather than in full sunlight? The ones growing in the woods are 35 to 40 feet tall verses the ones in full sunlight which are only 20 to 25 feet tall. I guess it could be the type of bamboo that is growing here. Maybe it loves shade more than the sun. I would like to identify this bamboo but don't know how to go about it. If I loaded a picture here could someone tell me what kind of bamboo it is? I want to plant 25 acres of it and I need to know all I can about it. I have a lot of wooded land also and could plant them in there if they grow best in the shade. Thanks, Charndannio
