Working on a design project for class to showcase "matcha" tea. I thought it would be nice to construct a bamboo box, but I have no idea where to begin. Any suggestions? I would also need a source for the bamboo.

An idea I was kicking around would be to make a cylinder style box that when assembled looks like one piece of bamboo, but allows you to pull off the top to get to the tea inside.

Again, I've never done this so could really use some direction.

Since this is an assigned project, I can't just go out and purchase a container ... have to make it myself.

Thanks!

Hi Wynter,
Have you made any progress with your design project?

Your request is a challenging request.

One idea is to cover a wooden box with split bamboo.

Another way would be to use a slat of bamboo flooring and cut it to assemble a box.

An idea to make a cylinder would be to use a strong material that you could bend to form a cylinder and cover the outside of the container with split bamboo or with multiple pieces of small branches or tops of the bamboo. For the bottom, you can use the metal top from an frozen juice package.

Just some ideas for you to think about - let's hear from you and see how you proceed...

could you just use a large piece of bamboo, between 2 nodes? I thinkingmake 1 node the bottom and 1 node the top. cut between the nodes to get a bottom and lid. add a thin lip on the inside of the tube and finish as desired.
