newbie questions

Howdy,

new to the forum. have had bamboo growing in my yard most of my life.

I have lived in Texas for a couple years now. It has been difficult to get bamboo started here. We have bought two different plants from nurseries locally but have not had much luck getting it to grow.

any suggestions? where do you get bamboo seeds? In Arizona and Virginia I just planted a few shoots and it was soon a matter of keeping it under control rather then worrying about it growing.

Lots of people here on this boo forum live in Texas, including the moderator, and they are growing bamboo there like weeds from what I have read here. You should not have any problems growing it down there.

If you cant get bamboo establish by buying a plant your not going to get bamboo establish starting seeds. I think it would be a lot easier to start from plant. If you water the bamboo to much it will die. Some fertilizer can also kill bamboo. For instance steer manure (I am pretty sure I heard that. I will have to look that up sometime.)
