ill have to check airfare/lodging etc. and see if im able to afford the long trip (down to p/t work now)

what fees are there for the festival and any workshops going on there? regardless, it really sounds terrific and well worth the trip from NY.

at least for us bamboo lovers :)

Hi Matthew
Hope you can make it!
If not, we'll be posting events activities here... naturally it won't be the same as being able to spend the weekend with others who have mutual interests.

Registration fee:
Option 1)
The full package is $150 (not including accommodation)
This gives you access to any part of the program event, with the exception of the Thursday 16th bus tour of nurseries and gardens.
Further Info is available at htpp://www.ftg.org/reasearch/bamboo2003.html
(but I think that their webmaster has `gone fishin' because
the program / events info is in need of updating.

Option 2)
If you can only make it to part of the event, or only wish to attend specific workshops...

The fee is $10 per day - entrance fee, which includes access to the garden amenities and Festival exhibition.
PLUS $15 per day for workshops/presentations

We are still trying to find out from the organizers if they really??? mean $15 for a whole day of workshops and presentations, or per each one.

I know that we, as presenters do not receive any portion of the fee, so I hope, for everyones sake that it's $15 / day - all programs inclusive.
However, regarding our own program listed above...
We are willing to accomodate any and everyone for the
Basic Principals portion, but have limited capacity (tools and instructors) for the practical hands-on portions.
Therefore precedence will be given to attendees who have purchased the full package, and to available space as per workshop.

welp, i bit the bullet and sprung for the full shabang including the pre conference trip to the plantations. sounded too good to pass by and Not something i get a chance to do often, more like Ever! i think i'll be camping out to offset it ;)

so two questions.
do you need to mark me down for the workshops , now that ive already registered for the whole festival etc.. if so please do! i plan on staying all day.

also. there was a 'board meeting' or something on the 15th i think it was..is that an open meeting anyone can join in on? or more of a 'board members' business meeting.

talk to u soon!

TribalWind, that's great to hear!
Regarding ABS meet...
This is open to all ABS members, but guests of members are not turned away.
... be my guest!
We will be there to represent the bamboo arts and craft culmunity... but hope we don't have to be there all day ...we have a lot of setting up to do for the Festival.

Question regarding our workshops/presentations...
"Do you need to mark me down for the workshops , now that Ive already registered for the whole festival?"

Done.... Anyone registered for the full Conference/ Festival package (Thursday 16th tour is optional ...but not required)
gets access to any of the events on the Conference Festival schedule.
However there is no guarranty of getting the `front seat' , or `standing room only', if a situation arrives that every one wants to be in the same place at the same time.

Here's the Good news!
- Fairchild Tropical Gardens is an excellent facility, that is well equiped to hold this event

- The Festival program offers a wide variety of choices, and the hardest part will be... scheduling the events that you wish to attend. (If we all had the time, this program could easily have been extended into a weeklong or monthlong event!).

- Our introductory presentations prior to workshops, will be held each of the 3 days. (though any one attending all 3 will be sure to learn something new each time).

- We are tailoring flexibility into our own workshops and demos (0ct 17-19th Oct), to ensure that we can all participate in other events as well.

- In addition to our primary goal of doing our part in providing workshops and presentations that are.... educational, informative and entertaining,
most importantly....this festival offers us all an excellent opportunity to meet others, and to participate in group discussions, exploratory workshops and installations.

Hello Mark,

You probably might not see this message, but it is 7:30am right now. I am trying to get a ride down to Miami, but it will be a long shot.

I'll probably take the TriRail, hopefully Will can pick me up or some generous soul.

Good luck!
