View Full Version : Can Bamboo damage pool?

I have a 3-foot space between the pool (1-foot raised wall on that side of pool) and fence. Can I plant a clumping timber bamboo in that space? Someone told me the bamboo could damage the pool structure as it grows, but I'm skeptical.

The desired effect I'm imagining is thick, tall culms somewhat arching over the pool. I prefer large-leaved bamboos. I live in Houston, TX. Any suggestions for bamboo types?

Appreciate any advice or experience!

Hi Goober,
Is this a swimming pool or a fish pond pool?
Is the pool concrete lined or plastic lined?
Does the planting location receive full sun/shade?
What length is the 3ft bed for the proposed bamboo?
