I was in the garden yesterday and noticed that one of the Phyllostachys aurea 'type' (AKA: Golden or Fishpole) bamboos that I put in the ground last fall has a great full culm color spectrum in 4 shoots/culms growing together. My Golden boos near the house turn deep yellow-gold with a lot of full sun here in summer months.

This particular specimin is interesting in that it has a new culm that just leafed out to the far right, and it is still dusty blue-green. The culm next to it to the left (half buried behind leaves) is one that leafed out about a month ago. It is now shiney deep green. The culm to the left of that is a new shoot still with purple sheaths on it. And at the far left is a deep golden mature two year old culm.

My contribution to Bamboo Show-and-Tell today. ;)
