I have recently cut down two maples that have passed due to verticillium wilt and was thinking of replanting in a raised bed.
Is bamboo vulnerable to verticillium wilt?

Hi Seth,
Good news! It appears that grasses and bamboo are resistant or immune to verticillium wilt. (Verticillium dahliae and Verticillium albo-atrum)
From ths article (Missouri Botanical Garden website):
http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/plantfinder/IPM.asp?code=147&group=21&level=s
PLANTS RESISTANT OR IMMUNE TO VERTICILLIUM WILT
Cactus family (all true cactus)
Conifers (cypress, fir, ginkgo, larch, juniper, pine, sequoia, spruce, others)
Grass family (Cereal grains, corn, grasses, milo, sorghum, others)
Other monocots (bamboo, banana, gladiolus, grasses, iris, lily, onion, orchids, palms, others)
(see above link for other trees, shrubs, vegetables and herbaceous ornamentals resistant or immune to Verticillium wilt)

Thanks, that's great news. i was worried about planting back into the same area. that fungus is really nasty, not effectively controlled and killed my 65' maples. oh well, more room for bamboo and less water competition for my pines.
