Best adhesives for bamboo (lamp)

Hi, I am looking for the best adhesives to attach bamboo pieces with a bamboo peg. And should I rough the peg to improve adhesion? Thank you, Robert

Hi Robert,
This is a tough question because generally most glues that works with wood should work with bamboo, and everyone has their personal adhesive preferences, also depending on the application.

The point that you mentioned, of roughing the outside surface of the bamboo that is to be glued is probably the most important thing, to assure a good bond, due to the surface's very smooth, glossy and often waxy texture.

The other thing is not to remove too much surface, especially where structural integrity is involved, as it is the outer wall portion that is the strongest part of the bamboo. The inner wood is less dense and not as structurally strong.
