Man, I was at my brother's this weekend and his P. aurea is just too huge! I swore it could not be golden boo that size. But it was. I was perplexed... shoots over 2 inches in diameter popping up out of the ground. We have a huge hedge of golden boos here on the farm that must be over 20 years old now and there are no culms in that hedge over 1-1/4 inch in diameter. My brother planted his clumps of P. aurea maybe 3 years ago and they are running far and putting up the massive shoots... sure enough, in my ABS listing they say that golden can get to 3 inches in diameter. I have never seen golden that fat before, even in the bigger boo plaintations and nurseries.
Maybe I will snap some photos of his shoots this weekend when I am up there again. That is, if the boos have not taken over his house by the time I get back up there... and I am trying to figure out how I can fatten up my goden boo hedge here. I feed and water it... sheep poop and spring water.
