Here is the second type of bamboo I am trying to ID.
Said by owner to be P. vivax, runner/timber type, has a grooved stem, definately a timber type with some dead old culms stumps 3 inches across. Pretty thick wall cross section of culm. Has hairs at base of leaves. Green stems, no stripes, but some mottling purple coloring on some stem sections.
Smaller plant, less than a year since I planted it. Only has 6 ft growth so far. Definitely has large culms, the "stump" in the photo is about 3 inches across.
