Hai,

I have just registered today though I have been seeing your forum for sometime. I am a coordinater of a just started 18 hectre Community bamboo botanical park and handicraft development centre, in Apar Village, District of Bau, Sarawak, Malaysia. The area has a number of native species, Gigantochloa atter and G. levis, Schizostachyum brachycladum, S. longispiculatum, Dendrocalamus asper and others. We intend to activate community cultural use of these bamboo as well as promote more modern use. We also hope to find interested partners (Government or NGO) to develop the park together toward friendship park and promote more international research collaboration and cultural exchange particularly the possible of producing activated carbon from bamboo charcoal for use in environmental filtration and other colloidal science application.

Thank you.

Hi Johnek Henry,
Thanks for joining and apologies for misplacing your post which I just found.
Your project sounds very interesting and we would like to know more about it.
Do you have any pictures of the place and of bamboos and their uses from your region?
You can upload photos here.

We should begin a new thread topic on bamboo charcoal and it's uses.
Very interesting topic.

Cheers,
Mark
