Hi there I have planted all the seed I got from the German guy, cant remember his name , on ebay and its growing I have stacks of babies - timor black, java black and it looks like minor ammoneus, as well is coming up.
The rains have started and it is warming up so I am going to repot them soon.
I have also been up in the mountains collecting the local bamboos, some very nice ones and Guadua species. when I have the skill I will load up lots of photos.
We have bought 37 acres and I hope to start my plantings soon,
steve walker. Panama.

Hi Steve,
Glad to hear of your success with the seedlings, and on finding some bamboo species locally.
37 acres ... sounds like bamboo heaven in the making to me. ;)

Would love to see the pics. If you want some help resizing the pics and whatever, I can assist.
Just upload them into your post and I can help with the rest.

Hi-- just to let you know that the seeds called "Bambusa distegia" from M. Bordne at http://www.exotic-plants.de do germinate fairly well. Sometimes seeds don't germinate, but these ones seem to be fresh enough at this time.
All the best, Larry

Hi Larry,
Thanks for uploading the seedling pics, (See link to thread in your above post).
Look forward to seeing progressive pics as they grow.

This species is litle known in the US.

Here's a link to the Kew.org GrassBase which provides a description of Bambusa distegia:
