There was a report (March 2006) of a Buddha Belly Bamboo dying after flowering, at Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando Florida.
As reported ...
It started looking really shabby in the fall (2005) and just recently looked totally dead. We couldn't figure out what caused it to die. There was no sign of flowering. Well this past week the inflorescences have appeared all over the clump so now we know what caused it to die. Has anyone else seen any B. ventricosa flowering recently? The records idicate it was purchased in Nov. 1986 from Bayside Gardens in Tampa and planted in Apr. 1987 from a 25 gal. pot, so it has only been in the ground for almost 20 years

Anyone else experiencing flowering of Bambusa tuldoides 'Ventricosa' ?
