I want to build a bamboo patio.
I can not find any info on tying or lashing bamboo
for different applications, like 45's or 90's.
Can anyone help me ?

Hey Stuka,
I've only just read your post. Missed it for some reason.
I've just found the following site:
http://www.northnet.org/ropeworks/text/arch.html#DOWNLOAD
Look especially at the lashing downloads. Very clear and informative.
Hope they help

Stuka-
There are a couple of books available that would help you. First, there's Carol Stangler's book "The Art and Craft of Bamboo," which provides a lot of illustrations of projects, including some joints and some tying patterns and knots, although she uses some more modern techniques, and many of her projects are arts and crafts rather than larger construction. Then there's "The Bamboo Fences of Japan" by Suzuki and Yoshikawa, which has a lot of great photographs (although no how-to). Unfortunately, it's out of print, but you might find it at the library. Then, there's Yoshikawa's "Building Bamboo Fences," which would probably give you all of the info you need. It not only has a number of projects, but it gives very clear step-by-step instructions on everything from preparing the poles, to joint construction, to material choices, to how to make the traditional knots. This was published in 2001, but it's a little hard to find. Whe I checked online today, Amazon didn't have it in stock, but it was listed with BAMM.com and Buy.com; it's about $20 in large paperback format. I think it would answer all of your questions...even some you haven't thought of yet. Good luck.
