Bamboo furniture natural or varnish ?

Hi There i'm new here and maybe this questions is already asked a few times.

We are import bamboo furniture the most from the phillipines, the varnish they are using there is not a good qualtity and thats why i have this questions.

Whats the best way to treat bamboo ? we think when we leave it natural ( no varnish ) how will it stay in diverend weather conditions like winter, summer ?
Or is it better to put some varnish on it ? and what kind of varnish ?
We notice that the normal varnish the use here in the Netherlands are not good for bamboo, when you put in on and place the furniture outside the varnish disapear becuase of the rain.

Any body maybe some ideas about varnish or other treadments for bamboo.

Hi Ron, I wish I had a good answer for you. I think this needs much more research.

The toughest applications for using varnishes and sealers is for boats and outside decks.

A google search for spar varnish or marine varnish will find numerous brands, though some say use not recommended for boats or decks.
