CLASSROOM & FIELD LECTURES TO INCLUDE:
FOCUS on superior bamboo types and species for the Central California coastal climate & discussion of techniques for incorporating bamboo in the urban landscape--
INFORMATION on 100 species and how to find them.
-How to harvest your bamboo for profit.
-How to control bamboo in the garden.
-How to use bamboo in construction.
SLIDES on Japanese gardens and architecture.
- 30 page booklet included with registration.
-Class session includes BENEFIT AUCTION of rare bamboo species [3 pm Sunday]

INSTRUCTOR Karl Bareis
- Began teaching with UCSC Extension in 1992, an acknowledged expert on Himalayan bamboo and Japanese landscape architecture.

This class is a 1-day intensive on multiple uses of bamboo for the gardener and professional alike. Class size will be limited.
Cost is $50. per person. Class is a benefit for the UCSC Arboretum.
