Hi Mark,
Here are the pictures I took for this new bamboo, it spreads very fast, the matured culms are about 1 1/2" - 2 inches, and thin walled, that's why it makes the grove look some what sloppy

The man helped me dug up 3 huge divisions of this kind of bamboo some culms over 20 feet tall and over an inch in diameter :) but I need to know what kind of Phyllostachys it is...

Please help to identify this bamboo

Thank you for everything

Ah, this is an easy one for me, as we planted one several years ago ...

Phyllostachys rubromarginata

Interesting thing about it's thinner walls ...
It's an excellent material for musical instruments and other things.
It's internode length can be quite long for Phyllostachys as it get larger in size
... up to 2 ft internode distance for a 2" dia rubro.

Maybe this, and thinner walls make it more susceptible to heavy snow/ice storms?

Rhizomes of P rubro grow in great profusion, producing a dense thicket of culms during it's formative years.

It is less cold hardy than, for example, Phyllostachys bissetii
