Growing cane

I work at a Wildlife Refuge. In the last two years, I have been cutting cane and hauling it back to the facility. At the refuge, I have been using the cane for shade for the animals. Someone has offered to help transplant some to the property, but I am not sure that I know what I am doing. I have also been trying to dry bamboo to build signs at the refuge. I really enjoy working with bamboo, but I think I have alot to learn. Could you tell me what steps I should take to transplant the cane? Thank you for any advice you may have.

Hi Emily,
Can you show any pics of the 'cane' ? ... or know the genera/species?
If I can get a better idea of species I may be able to give you a better answer.

That's how I cure all my bamboo. With a cheap propane torch. :D
