Topics of the workshop
We will analyze how biological attacks can be prevented: what kinds of treatments, their effectiveness, their costs and application techniques
We will also examine how cracks can affect the static performances of bamboo structures and will illustrate intervention models and criteria for the placing of metal rings
The maintenance actions recently carried out by EMISSIONIZERO on the Vergiate Bamboo Pavilion, with the micronized spraying of a solution containing boron salts and the placing of metal rings, will be described and shown during a visit to the building
Moreover, the first findings of the monitoring of the structure in relation with the local environmental forces and the ultimate load conditions will be illustrated. This work in progress is carried out with the scientific supervision of Prof. Walter Liese, for the biological aspects , and Eng. Mario de Miranda for the structural ones.
