Bamboos are conspicuously absent in the temperate forests of the Kashmir valley of J&K State India.
Introductory trials of a small ornamental species tried in 2000. The plants were introduced from subtropical region of the state.
The species identification needs to be confirmed . I am uploading the photos of the species showing habit, form, stem, branching and the leaf details.
It seems to be Fargesia genera and requires confirmation of genera and the species.

Hi,
The pictures you have uploaded are very beautiful, showing the effects of ice and snow on the plant.
Do the side branches always have this pendulous appearance?

Could it be Drepanostachyum falcatum ? (and I am just guessing)
- also known in the trade as Himalayan Weeping Bamboo - See photo (http://www.redcloudbamboo.com.au/large_himalayan_weeping.html)

If you have more pics showing it's characteristics and details of various parts, please do show them.
Do you have any pics of the shoots?

Mark
