The Woodlanders Gatherings
NEW YORK 2005 GATHERING
Warwick, NY Aug 26-28 2005
Encounters with Natural Materials
The tone of this Gathering will be familiar and yet new... Themes will center on the elements: earth, air, fire, water, food and aether(spirit). This is career development in arts, crafts and community.
A good opportunity for mid-career artists, craftspeople and builders to get together to meet each other, share information and discuss economic, political and spiritual directions.
A great opportunity for people interested in earth and nature based activities to learn more and enjoy themselves.
Rustic artist/author DANIEL MACK is doing a new workshop on Carving Found Wood (bark and driftwood), Writing Skills for Woodlanders, Teaching Rustic in Schools and a 4-hour visit in his nearby shop.
OTHER TOPICS: The many skills of crafting with natural materials, Basic Rustic Woodworking, Living Willow Fence Building with Kim Vergil, Making Garden Structures, Basketry, Pottery, Gardening Topics, Sustainable Living issues, Tree Identification, Medicine Wheel with David Weiner, Hypertufa with Laraine Howard, Business Skills, Writing Skills, Public Speaking Skills.
Slide talks, videos, tools and materials swap and bonfires and music and VISITS to local studios and points of interest.
Warwick, NY is about 50 miles (90 minutes) from New York City, just North of the top of NJ. We are in the beautiful rural farming community of Orange County and fresh food will be in season.
This Gathering takes place on the Campgrounds of a Conference Center with spectacular views of the Warwick Valley and pristine trails. There will be free on-site Camping and a Bath House. Setting up on Thursday, August 25 and we have the Campsites till Sunday, August 28.
The 3-day registration cost is $210 for the three days for the 30 workshops and activities. Register with 2 friends and you all receive 10% off - $189.00 each.
Day and half-day fees are $85 and $50.
It is our goal to have local, fresh food and drinks for sale on-site.
Please register early so the instructors can have an idea on how much materials to bring. Thank you. Questions? Check this website or contact Janet Fatta, coordinator@woodlanders.com
