Hi Pijerre, it's a Phyllostachys sp. ...
What species? hmmm I will guess, but first ...

Do you have any other pics of the shoots?

What month did the shoots emerge?

Is the surface of the culm smooth or is it slightly bumpy if you rub your finger very lightly down the culm?

Thans for your response. I have just only one picture (not good) of the shoot. I attach it ...

culm surface i smooth, shoots starts at end of april, but this winter was very long (in czech rep.)

Several possibilities, my first guess is Phyllostachys meyeri, but I may be wrong.
I will upload some pics of P. meyeri when I find them :)

?Question? about the shoot - sheath ...

Can you remember if there were auricles present (with filaments) near the top of each sheath blade as the shoot got taller?

For example, see auricle (ears) with filaments on a Phyllostachys bambusoides shoot sheath:

See example of Phyllostaschys viridis `Robert Young' shoot sheath with no auricles:

Mark,
can it be the Phyllostachys aurea ( golden ) ?? look at the last picture, there seem to be some compressed nodes in the middle culm as well as the small one all the way on the right... I have a two years Aurea and they look almost the same like this one, I am only a newbie, but just throwing in my two cents :)

Look at this P Aurea picture

What do you think ?
