Experience Bamboo - Thailand 2005/06
Exhibition and international Workshop
Summary
Bamboo is one of our fascinating building materials. As a fast renewable and
ecological resource it possesses enormous properties.
In this workshop we are going to work with bamboo in traditional and modern
ways regarding artistically and technical skills. We are going to realize individual
and joint structures.
Small groups will work in hands-on seminars with theoretic background
information under guidance of experts from Germany and Thailand. Participants
will be supported to learn materials handling from design to construction
for this strong and beautiful material.
Together we will work on the basics, will discover the local bamboo culture and
we are going to erect a bamboo construction.
And it’s going to be the first joint venture with the Lahu. It’s an ethnic group
in the north of Thailand which is using bamboo since ancient times in traditional
ways.
